Deepavali Festival was celebrated at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Poland on 28th October 2011 among the Sri Lankan community. Speaking on behalf of the Sri Lankan community, Mr. Jayakumar appreciated the efforts taken by the Ambassador and the staff organizing the event. Further, he said that it was the first time such a celebration has taken place since the opening of the Embassy in Poland and look forward to celebrating Deepavali collectively in future.

Ambassador Pamela J. Deen speaking on the occasion said that Deepavali festival symbolizing   the victory of good over the evil sends a strong message. She stated that Sri Lankans of diversity should be able to appreciate each other's culture for better understanding and to live in harmony.
